Paint the Town Blue
St. Michael in Old Town ‘s 7th Annual Gala was held on April 21, 2012 at Galleria Marchetti. This year’s event drew a record number of guests, who enjoyed the pecial signature cocktail created especially for St. Michael in Old Town, as well as dinner and music provided by parish favorite the Blooze Brothers. Former Pastor, Fr. Henry Novak, received both the the Tony Berent Award, given to a parishioner who embodies the selfless spirit of Tony Berent, a wonderful man who gave constantly of himself for the good of the parish, and the St. Alphonsus Liguori Award, which is given to a Redemptorist who exemplifies the Alphonsian spirit of service and proclamation of the Good News. Guests also participated in the evening’s auctions, including a live auction, which was presided over by auctioneer, Steve Zick, of Christies Auctions’ Chicago Office. As the photos in the slide show reveal, a good time was had by all!!
The Communications & Special Events Commission would like to thank the members of its Gala Committee who worked so hard to make this year’s event a great success and a wonderful celebration for our parish community, especially Gala Coordinator, Diane Kelley-Thompson, and her co-chair, Karen Rabun. The hard work of the committee members who solicited donations, helped to organize the auction, set up on the day of the event and worked during it is much appreciated. We also owe a great deal of gratitude to all of the generous donors who contributed to the auctions, the program book, and the gift bags, listed below. We encourage our parishioners to remember them with their patronage and support. Finally, thanks to everyone who attended this year’s Gala. We look forward to seeing you all next year!

Blessing of the Animals
On October 6, 2012 pets of all sorts gathered with their owner for the pet blessing. This annual event occurs in honor of St. Francis of Assisi whose feast day is October 4. Check out our attendees.
