St. Michael Children's Religious Education Program Our Religious Education program supports families as they raise their children in the Catholic faith. We understand our role as supportive of the parental responsibility to raise their child in the faith. Our classes are small with trained, dedicated catechists who give generously of their time. Parents of Grade One Students If your child has completed grade one in school, but has not yet received any formal religious education, they will be enrolled in Eucharist Level One in the Fall. Eucharist is a two-year preparation and includes preparation for the Sacrament of Reconciliation as well. A Baptism certificate is requested (unless your child was baptized at St. Michael) and a $25 registration fee is due and payable.
Parents of Grade Six Students Students who are currently in Grade Six and have not been attending regular religious education will be required to have an oral assessment prior to enrolling in Confirmation Level I. All Sacraments require participation in religious education for one full year prior to the year in which the Sacrament will be received. For more information or to schedule an assessment, please call the Religious Education office Sunday through Thursday at 312-943-4767. Pre-registration cannot be completed without the oral assessment. Throughout the year, parent meetings are held. These meetings help with preparation for a Sacrament or help parents as the first teachers of the faith for their children. More information about the parental role in the program can be obtained by downloading the Parental Handbook. and the Prayer Sequence. This year we will have a "Welcome to the New Year" meeting on September 9. Parishioner tuition information can be found here. All children must have a Medical Information and Authorization for Medical Treatment Form on file before the first day of class.
