Our Religious Education program supports families as they raise their children in the Catholic faith. We understand our role as supportive of the parental responsibility to raise their child in the faith. Our classes are small with trained, dedicated catechists who give generously of their time.

Registration Spring 2010

To register your child, you may contact the Office Religious Education at (312) 943-4767 or download the registration form, the Tuition form, and the Medical Information and Authorization for Medical Treatment Form. All children must have a Medical Form on file before the first day of class. We rely on help and support from the parents so we also ask that you fill out a Family Participation Opportunities for 2010-2011 form.

A Baptism form is also requested (unless your child was baptized at St. Michael) when registering your child for the first time.

Sacrament Preparation

Throughout the year, parent meetings are held. These meetings help with preparation for a Sacrament or help parents as the first teachers of the faith for their children. More information about the parental role in the program can be obtained by downloading the Parent Handbook. and the Prayer Sequence.

Eucharist Preparation

Eucharist Preparation begins in 1st grade or Level 1. If your child has completed grade one in school, but has not yet received any formal religious education, they will be enrolled in Level One class in the Fall. Eucharist is a two-year preparation and includes preparation for the Sacrament of Reconciliation as well. This is an Archdiocesan policy guideline.

 

Parents of Grade Six Students (Pre-Confirmation Level I)

Students who are currently in Grade Six and have not been attending regular religious education will be required to have an oral assessment prior to enrolling in Confirmation Level I. For more information or to schedule an assessment, please call the Religious Education office Sunday through Thursday at 312-943-4767. Pre-registration cannot be completed without the oral assessment.
