St. Michael's Foundation

Have you noticed the plaques in the foyer of the church as you entered?

The names on the plaques recognize members of the community for their generous financial support of our parish. They are life-time members of the St. Michael in Old Town Foundation.

The Foundation is a chartered organization and was started in 1965 by the pastor of St. Michael in Old Town, the Very Rev. H.J. Novak, C.Ss.R.

The purpose of the foundation was to create funding sources for Masses, the education of future priests and Brothers and maintenance and repair of this historic church. Toward this end, the interest income is proportioned:

·        Masses for faithful members– 2%

·        Education of future priests and Brothers – 25%

·        Maintenance and repair of the church– 73%

Masses are said on behalf of those who support the parish through their membership in the Foundation. These Masses will continue to be celebrated perpetually.

Maintenance and repair of the church is an ongoing challenge and need. As you know, this wonderful legacy that we worship in is both an asset and a liability. It is our responsibility to provide a superior place of worship for the next generation of parishioners.

Through the education of future Redemptorist priests and Brothers, we show our commitment to the promulgation of our faith. This is a basic tenet of who we are as a faith community.

The administration of the Fund, made perpetual by its charter, is irrevocably placed in the hands of the Provincial, the Procurator of the Province, the pastor of St. Michael in Old Town and their successors in office.

Become part of the legacy of St. Michael in Old Town by becoming a member of the Foundation. All gifts are fully tax deductible. Call the development office for more information: 312-943-4580, or E-Mail John.
